Bulmer Choir began in 2008 when a group of singers in Bulmer, a village in North Yorkshire near Castle Howard, decided to get together to make music.
Over the years the choir has flourished and grown and we now have around 40 singers who come from villages and towns across Ryedale. But true to our roots we still meet to rehearse in Bulmer Village Hall.
We enjoy singing an extensive range of music, both classical and modern, from Bach to the Beatles, Handel to Rodgers and Hammerstein and everything in between. We usually put on two concerts a year, with occasional additional appearances at special events and weddings.
Rehearsals are held every Wednesday evening from 7.30pm to 9.30pm with a break half way through for tea or coffee and Judy’s home-made cakes. Practices continue throughout the year, usually with short breaks in January and summer.
Members pay £30 per term which covers the cost of hiring the hall, music, flowers and ties, and refreshments.
New members always welcome
Bulmer Choir has a reputation for being friendly & welcoming and we are always on the lookout for new members. At the moment our soprano section in particular is in need of some additional voices but altos, tenors and basses will be equally welcomed.
So if you have a good singing voice, enjoy learning different styles of music, and can ideally follow a music score, though not necessarily read music, why not give us a try?
We don’t hold auditions but suggest you come along to a rehearsal at 7.30pm on a Wednesday evening in Bulmer Village Hall and join in. Or if your prefer, you can come along and just listen to see if we are the right choir for you.
